Is the GB Pockit Stroller Still Better Than The New GB Pockit Plus?

Jaws dropped when GB Pockit, the world’s smallest stroller, was introduced in the market a few years ago but is it really worth its hype?

What is a GB Pockit Stroller?

With such a well-thought of design and impressive engineering, the GB Pockit stroller is indeed worthy of being a 2014 Guiness World Record holder for being the smallest stroller in the world until as of this writing. Despite its high price, this tiny, piece of genius was a commercial success that it raised the bar among its competitors and even on itself.

The New GB Pockit Plus Stroller

Just recently, the newest version, the GB Pockit Plus Stroller came out and people have been making polarizing reviews about it and how it compares to its predecessor. Some rave about it while some think it is the same stroller save for some minor tweaks and a heftier price tag.

Let us compare.

The Weigh In

Comparing the Features of The Old and The New

The difference in weight and dimensions are very minimal that it could almost go unnoticed. As long as it is still small and light enough to be carried inside a backpack, for me, it is a non-issue.

Same Wheels– Both models have 4 small dual wheels (about < 5 inches in diameter) that can do 360 degree swivels for easy maneuverability. The front wheels can be manually locked for a more stable stroll on uneven terrains.

Wheels

– Both models have no shock-absorption features so strolls can sometimes be a little bumpy and uncomfortable.

– Both are agile and highly maneuverable, perfect for navigating small and crowded places.

Same Folding Mechanism– Folding of strollers are the same. Both can be easily folded 2 ways – The Everyday Quick Fold and Ultra Compact Fold.

Watch demo below.

Same 5- Point Harness– Both have a 5-point harness that can be adjusted as the baby grows.

Same Handles– Both have 2 separate handles that are easy to steer even with one hand. Height of handles are still fixed and is more suitable for people of average height. Taller people may need to hunch.

Modified Canopy– From a flat and narrow canopy design, this new model now sports a slightly wider and rounded design that extends al the way to the sides. It is made out of UVF 50 fabric for extra sun protection. However, I still do not think these modifications are enough to provide coverage especially on a really hot day. I do understand though that to maintain the integrity of its size, some features’ will be compromised.

More Exciting Features of the GB Pocket Plus

This newcomer has retained some amazing features of the old GB Pockit but what’s great about this model is it addressed a lot of the physical limitations that most parents complained about before.

  • A wider and deeper seat gives more room for bigger and older kids.
  • Additional padding was added to support the back.
  • A deeper recline, finally! Although not capable of a full recline, the stroller can be lowered 145 degrees to make nap times more comfortable for your little one.

And the Most Important Feature of All: The GB Pockit Plus Stroller is Now Convertible to a Travel System

No more waiting until your baby is old enough to sit unassisted before using this. The GB Pockit Plus stroller allows installation of baby car seats, such as GB, Maxi Cosi, Nuna, Cybex and even a GB Cot To Go making it a travel system that your baby can use from newborn to 55 lbs. These and additional adapters can be bought separately.

3-ways to use GB Pockit Plus

Price Comparison of GB Pockit vs GB Pockit Plus

If you are planning to buy a GB Pockit Plus instead of a GB Pockit expect the price to be higher by $40 or $60 depending on the color. To convert it into a travel system, carefully consider the cost of car seat and adapter which will probably cost you another $200 or more.
